Workshop outline

Using my extensive choice of sumptuous hand coloured textured papers, we will begin with a few exercises following the traditional styles of arranging mosaic tiles 'Andamento'. From tiling the bathroom wall 'Opus Regulartum', through Tessalatum and Sectile.

We move on to explore crazy free designs, appreciating how some of these refer to how Nature responds to the extreme conditions causing stress: cracked earth and cracked ice.

I have worked many of these designs in bonded silk applique in my quilts, but also as ceramic and glass mosaics. Working first in paper is a great way to explore lots of ideas and add integrity to your craft.

Materials Supplied: Hand made textured coloured papers

Background Black / White / Blue card You need: Paper scissors, your choice of glue, pencil.
